We embrace the beautiful patina of polymer clay instead of resisting its naturally occurring textures. The juxtaposition of smooth with the uneven creates a harmonious design. Our method also takes inspiration from the Japanese Kurinuki technique. Kuri Nuki is a traditional Japanese form of hand-building. These marks are intentional and are of great value to the entirety of the piece. The more raw, textural and sculptural, the more successful a finished piece is believed to be.
